Position: Project Architect

Overview
Balding Design Build is looking to hire a Project Architect to play a vital role in the company’s design, sales, and construction process. With our design + build model, the architect will be a part of the process from initial concepts all the way through project completion. This individual will assist the team to create elegant designs, develop and nurture client relationships and expectations, as well as demonstrate the company’s superior ability to provide great service to clients.
We are looking for a candidate who possesses a positive attitude, as well as a passion for listening and helping clients achieve their project specific goals. This position works with the sales and design staff to develop design solutions and client presentations. They will also produce construction documents and work with the production team to bring the project to life. Ideal candidates will be a good company culture fit and an active team player. Experience and an interest in large residential remodels and additions is a plus as this is the majority of our projects.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Design engaging spaces that take into consideration the clients’ tastes, preferences, goals, and budget, as well as our company standards and norms.
- Utilize computer-assisted design software and 3D measurement equipment to prepare as-builts, 3-D Models and Construction Documents.
- Conduct zoning, building code, FEMA and HOA research.
- Works in tandem with a collaborative design team.
- Assist in research and coordination of materials and products for project specifications.
- Along with the salesperson, present the final 3-D model, scope and pricing in order to proceed to contract.
- Produce fully detailed construction documents with all necessary information for engineering, pricing, permitting and construction.
- Onboard project managers with all necessary details and information for a successful handoff to the production team.
- Maintain client contact during production and ensure project is built as intended.
- Check in on progress on site during key phases and help problem solve any design issues that arise.
- Help the team create and maintain happy clients throughout the process.
Optimal Qualities and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
- 3+ years of architectural experience in residential design.
- Active board licensure required in North Carolina.
- Understands of and has extensive knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, residential construction, building systems and site requirements.
- Proficiency in Chief Architect, SketchUp, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office suite is required.
- Excellent attention to detail, the ability to prioritize to meet tight deadlines.
- Collaborates well in a team environment on subjective details and has good interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and problem-solving techniques.
- Strong ability to multitask and progress multiple designs simultaneously.
Salary and Compensation
- Compensation starting at $85K based on experience
